The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center celebrated a significant milestone of 50 years of training and preparing the local workforce.
Since its founding in August 1974, DCCTC has expanded to offer 18 programs, serving students from all four high schools in Dorchester County, as well as private and home-schooled students.
Over the past 50 years, the Career Center has impacted thousands of students, transforming lives and boosting local economies by providing graduates with the skills needed for today’s in-demand careers.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, DCCTC hosted a special advisor luncheon on Monday. Congresswoman Nancy Mace was the keynote speaker at the event, which brought together industry leaders and business partners from across the Lowcountry to reflect on DCCTC’s heritage and future.
Milestones achieved over 50 years:
Since offering a small program in 1974, DCCTC has expanded to include 18 specialty programs in areas such as automotive technology, welding, and health care. The center now has two locations and is expanding its reach to accommodate more students throughout Dorchester County. Currently, 98% of students who complete DCCTC’s programs find employment in their field, attend college, or join the military within 18 months of graduation. DCCTC embraces inclusivity and diversity in the industry and encourages female students to pursue male-dominated fields, and the center offers over 25 different certifications to help students transition into the workforce.
