300 students expected to attend SIU’s 2024 FFA Career Day

300 students expected to attend SIU’s 2024 FFA Career Day

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The diverse field of agricultural careers will be on display during the annual FFA Career Day on Friday, Oct. 4 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Nearly 300 students from 22 school districts across Southern Illinois registered for the rain or shine event. SIU has hosted FFA Career Day since 2012. Organizers aim to expose students to a wealth of agriculture-related careers.

This year’s event will feature presentations from the Animal Science, Agribusiness Economics, Agricultural Education, and Plant and Soil Science programs, as well as agricultural law presentations from the SIU Simmons Law School. Representatives from Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners and John Deere Equipment will also discuss farming systems.

Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event on Friday, October 4th at University Farms, 2704 Union Hill Road. The Illinois Farm Bureau is sponsoring this year’s event at the University Farm. Sponsorship covers all costs of the event, including free T-shirts for all participants. Lunch will be provided for participants.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. at the University Farm Service Center and activities begin at 9 a.m.

After the morning’s activities, participants will gather for lunch and debrief at the University Farm Service Center. Event ends by 1:00 p.m.
