TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Cordora Soiris’ apartment in Highland Crest is home to her 8-year-old son, 3-month-old daughter and several mold colonies.
“It’s just… I can’t even explain it. It’s just disgusting. And the smell is… hmm,” Soiris said.
The single mother of two claims she developed mold after her apartment flooded three months ago. She said her apartment manager cleaned the carpet and part of the hold at the time, but it kept happening again.
“I just gave birth to a daughter and my son shouldn’t have to live under these conditions either,” she said.
Soiris said she is worried about her children’s health and is now spending time exclusively with friends and family to keep them out of her apartment.
“I have two kids and they don’t come here much because of the mold. I’m trying to keep them safe,” she said. “They can get sick from it. So we try not to keep it here too often.”
Soiris has asked management to put her in a new department, but so far she hasn’t received any help.
“It’s like they don’t care, and that’s not right,” Soiris said.
The I-TEAM reached out to Highland Crest management for answers. A lawyer for the company said they would respond, but they have not yet responded.
