• Michigan Tech hosts Northern Michigan in an exhibition game Saturday at John McInnes Student Ice Arena.
• Puck drops at 6:07 p.m.
• The teams met in an exhibition game at Marquette on January 6, 2024. The Wildcats won 7-2.

CCHA Preseason Player of the Year Award
• Sophomore Isaac Gordon was named CCHA Preseason Player of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
• He joins Lucas Wallin of St. Thomas University and Connor Milburn of Lake Superior State University in being honored for the award.

Preseason All CCHA
Sophomore forward Isaac Gordon and sophomore defenseman Chase Pietila were named to the coaches and media preseason All-CCHA teams.

59th GLI
• Tickets are on sale now for the 59th Great Lakes Invitational, to be held Dec. 29 and 30 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
• The Huskies will play Western Michigan in the opener, with Michigan State and Northern Michigan playing in the other semifinal.

• Joe Shawhan is in his eighth season as head coach and owns a record of 138-103-26.
• He was named the 2023 CCHA Coach of the Year and is one of only two coaches to lead four different Michigan Tech teams to the NCAA Tournament.
• Wins 100th career game at Bowling Green on Nov. 5, 2022, ranking second among Tech hockey coaches in wins.
• Shawhan’s 22 wins in his first season tied the most ever by a first-year coach at Michigan Tech. Jim Kahlgang won 22 races in 1982-1983.
• Shawhan was named the Huskies’ 22nd head coach on May 30, 2017, after serving as an assistant coach at Tech for the past three seasons.

• Former captain Raymond Brice joined as an assistant coach in the offseason.
• Bryce welcomes Tyler Sherast (fourth season) and Jordy Murray (third season) to staff.

Preseason CCHA Coaches Poll
• Tech was tied for second place with Bemidji State in the preseason CCHA coaches poll. The Beavers received an additional first-place vote.
• Minnesota, Bowling Green, Lake Superior, Augustana and Ferris State round out the top eight, with Northern Michigan in the ninth spot.

• Tech was picked fourth in the preseason CCHA media poll behind Bemidji State, St. Thomas State and Minnesota State.
• Bowling Green, Lake Superior State, Augustana, Northern Michigan and Ferris State round out the polls.

Future schedule
• Tech University begins the regular season by hosting the Alaska Nanooks for the second year in a row next weekend (October 11-12).
• The Huskies then host Clarkson on Oct. 25 and 26 before CCHA play begins against Northern Michigan on Nov. 1 and 2.

• Hockey alumni Sean Harrison and John Scott will be inducted into the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 25.
• Sean Harrison played in 141 games for the Huskies from 1986 to 1990. He ranks 20th in career points at Tech with 59 goals and 87 assists. Harrison was the WCHA leading scorer in 1989 and was named to the All-WCHA First Team that season.
●John Scott played in 126 games for the Huskies from 2002 to 2006. He had seven goals and 12 assists in 352 penalty minutes. After college, Scott played in 286 NHL games with Minnesota, Chicago, New York, Buffalo, San Jose, Arizona and Montreal. Scott led his team to a 3-on-3 tournament victory and was named the 2016 NHL All-Star Game MVP.

• Tech hosts Alaska on Oct. 11 and 12.
• The Clarkson Golden Knights will travel to Houghton on Oct. 25 and 26.
• The 59th GLI will be held Dec. 29-30 in West Michigan, Michigan State and Northern Michigan.
• The final non-conference game will be the Coachella Valley Cactus Cup on January 3rd and 4th in Palm Springs, California. Tech opens against Lowell College and plays Omaha or Holy Cross the next day.

• Tech will make its third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24 and fourth under Coach Shawhan after winning the program’s first CCHA Mason Cup championship.
• The Huskies finished 19-15-6 overall and tied for second in the CCHA with a 12-10-2 record.
• The Black and Gold dominated Bowling Green in the first round of the CCHA. The Huskies then defeated Minnesota State in the CCHA semifinals and won the conference tournament title at Bemidji State.
• Tech won the 58th Great Lakes Invitational, defeating the University of Alaska in overtime and defeating Michigan State in penalties in the title game.
