RENO, Nev. (COLO) – Approximately 1,600 middle and high school students are expected to attend the 7th annual Northern Nevada Construction Career Day. Associate General Contractors (AGC) of Nevada partnered with Washoe County Signature Academy and Career and Technical Education (CTE) to host this exciting career event at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
This Construction Career Day event aims to highlight the many opportunities and careers that students can pursue in the construction field. The event will feature 45 different exhibitors demonstrating a variety of skills and trades, some of which will be interactive for students in attendance.
“Construction sites are everywhere, you see it everywhere you go, but our workforce is so scarce that we are exposing these children at a young age. says Karissalyn Stratton, workforce development manager at AGC.
There will also be a table with educational and employment resources for students from Northern Nevada Apprenticeship, University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada University, Sierra Nevada Employment Corps and more.
