SPC hosts BEAM event to inspire careers in STEM fields

October 3, 2024, St. Petersburg University

Join St. Petersburg College (SPC) to learn about exciting Architectural Arts, Engineering, Architecture, and Manufacturing (BEAM) at SPC’s Career Excitement and Aspiration-Building Event on Tuesday, October 8th in Clearwater. Explore career paths in an engaging and interactive way. Campus, 2465 Drew St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This dynamic event is designed to help Pinellas County, homeschool, charter school, and SPC students discover and connect with the world of innovative STEM careers.

“This year’s BEAM event offers fun career exploration and great learning opportunities. We have exciting activities including introductions, outdoor and indoor activities, and open lab activities for participants,” said Sidney Martin, SPC’s Engineering Technology Program Director. “This event will feature interesting and informative events for middle school, high school, and SPC students. Participants will learn about exciting careers in manufacturing, construction, engineering, and architecture. Members of the community will also participate. We hope you’ll join us and learn about an exciting career in manufacturing.”

This is not a job fair, but a unique opportunity to explore and learn about potential career paths. Organizers say students are asked to come with curiosity and enthusiasm.

“I’m really looking forward to taking our new group of 6th grade students to SPC’s BEAM events. This is our third year bringing our students to SPC for these events,” said Clear. said Rick Preil, an engineering teacher at Water Foundation Middle School. “This is the highlight of our year. My students are not only excited to spend time on campus, but are always amazed by the amazing experiences and amazing things they learn.”
