The fast-growing fitness race has announced that the Windy City will host its next world championships, showing the sport’s growing popularity in the United States.
Hyrocks has selected Chicago as the host city for the highly anticipated 2024/25 World Championship. The event will be held from June 12th to 15th, 2025 at the Chicago Navy Pier Center.
Hyrox is rapidly growing in popularity, with more than 550,000 athletes expected to compete around the world in 2024 alone. The workout, which combines eight 1-kilometer runs alternating with functional training, has attracted more than 80,000 participants in the United States.
“The decision to bring the World Championship back to the United States reflects the growing demand for the sport across the United States,” said Mo Furste, co-founder of Hyrocks. “Chicago is not only Hyrocks’ primary operating base in the United States, but also provides a world-class venue commensurate with the scale of this event.”
The 2024/25 World Championships will be held over four days and will feature both the Elite 15 World Championships and the Age Group World Championships. The Elite 15 World Championship focuses on the top 1% of players in the world and features both individual and doubles matches. Current champions Megan Jacoby (USA) and Alexander Roncevic (Austria) will defend their titles.
New race formats will also be on display. The Elite 15 Doubles World Championship will be held for the first time, with relay teams competing. After a series of qualifying events, athletes will also compete in the Age Group World Championships, adding new depth to the competition.

Hyrox has become one of the fastest growing fitness races. Dubbed the “Marathon of Fitness,” the competition was designed to create a new style of fitness racing for an untapped market. Rather than catering to extreme levels of fitness like CrossFit, Hirox wants to cater to a broader audience who want to test and benchmark their own physical progress.
In an interview with Athletech News earlier this year, Hyrox founder and CEO Christian Toetzke said: We are becoming the world’s largest fitness sport with mainstream adoption and global penetration. Between 500,000 and 1 million people take part in the race each season. ”
