MANSFIELD — North Central State College (NCSC) is proud to recognize Mike Beebe, a member of the Class of 1977 and an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, for his outstanding contributions to the field of engineering and dedicated service as a university professor. In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and dedication to student success, NCSC presented Mike Beebe with the Alumni of the Year Award at a ceremony on Thursday, October 3.
This event is designed to celebrate the outstanding contributions of North Central State University alumni whose creativity, bold vision, and community engagement embody the region’s excellence.
After graduation, Beebe began his professional career as a quality inspection technician at Shulman Plastics and later consulted as a tool designer for major companies including:
White/Westinghouse and Gelser systems.
In 1980, he furthered his education at Wright State University and developed a passion for automobile manufacturing while at Dayton Electric.
Beebe began his career at the Transportation Research Center and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Franklin College.
This milestone paved the way for positions as a test engineer at Chrysler Corporation and New Departure Hyatt General Motors.
Over the next 13 years, Beebe founded his own company, MSBeebe and Associates, and held senior positions serving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including vice president of engineering for First Technology Safety Systems and the Center for Automotive Research and Technology. did.
He also served as Vice President of Engineering for Denton ATD, Humanetics.
Beebe says she couldn’t have accomplished all of the accomplishments she has without coming to North Central first.
“I’ve done everything from being a company executive to starting two companies, working for Chrysler and General Motors, and working for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, all as an engineer, vice president of engineering, and vice president of engineering. I’ve been working.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved everything I have, and it all started here. It’s all something I couldn’t have done as a little kid from Plymouth. Coming here first opened the door for me. This community needs this university to open its doors to people.”
In 2000, Beebe founded Midget Motors LLC, to which he devoted his expertise until 2012, when he returned to North Central State University as a professor in the College of Engineering.
Known for his passion and dedication to teaching, he has become a beloved figure among students and colleagues, and actively seeks partnerships that advance students’ understanding of engineering across a variety of industries.
Not only did Beebe earn his degree from Northcentral University, he also met his wife there.
“NCSC is where I found my career, my wife, and my future,” he said.
His commitment to the field is further demonstrated by his 45-year membership in the Society of Automotive Engineers and his roles as a Sunday school teacher and church trustee.
