On Thursday, about 800 Wayne County eighth-graders attended the 2024 Career Carnival at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Palmyra to explore a wide range of career options.
The event, hosted by Wayne County Community Schools, featured more than 60 vendors including skilled trades, emergency services and local businesses such as Optimax, Halco and Garlock.
Students had the opportunity to interact with experts, participate in hands-on demonstrations, and see Wayne County EMS and Sheriff’s Office vehicles up close.
Inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses sponsored by local companies such as Reliant and Constellation Brands added to the excitement of the day.
Later this month, the organization will host an empowerME event for 10th grade girls focused on mental health and empowerment at the Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES Conference Center.
