UVA Health University Medical Center and UVA Health Children’s seven specialties are ranked No. 1 in Virginia and in the top 50 nationally by national news publication Newsweek.

“A key pillar of our 10-year strategic plan is to ensure that UVA Health has excellent clinical programs and access to our experts from outside of Virginia while ensuring that patients do not have to leave Virginia for treatment.” “Our goal is to ensure that we continue to serve the thousands of people who come to us for treatment every year,” said UVA Health Chief Executive Officer and University of Virginia Health Affairs Director. said Dr. K. Craig Kent, Executive Vice President. “This national recognition by Newsweek magazine demonstrates the extraordinary expertise of our outstanding team.”

Ranking criteria include surveys of subject matter experts, hospital quality metrics, and patient experience surveys.

University Medical Center’s national rankings are as follows (all seven of these specialties are ranked #1 in Virginia):

Best Children’s Hospital in America: Best Orthopedic Hospital in America: #31 Best Neurology Hospital in America: #37 Best Heart Hospital in America: #40 Best Cancer Hospital in America: #44
