GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) — Sickness season is just around the corner, and health officials say now is the time to get the protection you need to stay healthy.
The CDC says November and December are the months when people are most sick.
The severity of last year’s flu was moderate, within the range seen in pre-COVID-19 seasons, according to the CDC.
During the 2023-2024 season, influenza activity began to increase in early November and peaked in late December.
The disease declined for several weeks in January of this year, but then remained relatively stable until February 2024, before declining in May.
Dr. Catherine Passaretti said: “Get vaccinated to protect yourself from the flu and the serious illness you get from coronavirus. That’s why we’re making sure we have the latest coronavirus vaccines and the latest coronavirus vaccines on more trains this year. “It is highly recommended that you get the influenza vaccine.” For the new coronavirus and influenza, all people over 6 months of age are eligible. ”
In addition, Passaretti said vaccines for RSV should also be considered because it is a threat to young newborns and the elderly.
It’s also important to wash your hands frequently, drink plenty of water, and have a healthy sleep schedule.
A complete list of CDC vaccine recommendations is available on the CDC website.
