Shippensburg University’s 2024 Career and Internship Fair

On October 3, 2024, the university held its annual career and internship fair. This recurring event is a great way for students to connect with a wide range of employers looking for job openings and internship positions.

The event included Clark Associates, Enterprise Mobility, Northwestern Mutual, Target, Volvo, Adusa Distribution, Wagman, Deloitte Consulting, Duie Pyle, JEM Construction, Common Wealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Counseling Services, SEK CPAS & Advisors, UCP and many more. of employers participated. central PA etc.

Shippensburg University Graduate School and other institutions across Pennsylvania also set up tables at the exhibit to provide students with information about further educational opportunities.

Students were encouraged to dress professionally and bring a copy of their resume to share with potential employers. The fair serves as a recruiting event where students get information about career and internship opportunities, see if their interests and skill sets match current job openings, make connections, and leverage their networking skills. did.

Several employers at the event highlighted their core values ​​and commitment to community involvement. For example, A. Duy Pyle, represented by Jack Henry and Aleksandra Mochanak, emphasized that it is a family-run business that has been in operation for more than 40 years.

Clark Associates, a leading supplier of food service equipment and products, was represented by Shipp alumnus and category manager Chase Slenker. He noted that the company’s partners, such as Restaurant Store and Webstaurant Store, offer a wide range of work opportunities and work schedule options.

Keegan Fonder, a Ship alumnus and Volvo Construction Equipment people and culture analyst, noted the company’s commitment to connecting with the Shippensburg community, including hosting high school tours of local facilities. The Shippensburg branch serves as a global technology hub and includes the Americas sales region and Americas operations headquarters, museum, training facility, and customer center.

Deloitte Consulting, represented by alumni Zach Semanko and Caitlin Baker, discussed the firm’s inclusive culture and work-life balance. Baker emphasized that Deloitte offers a welcoming work environment, including weekly catered events and offering the option of a hybrid work schedule.

Claudia Rivera Burgos, People and Culture Manager at JEM Group, highlighted the company’s innovative approach to construction services. JEM focuses on “architecture to improve lives,” creating spaces in areas such as healthcare, education, and government. These are also women-owned businesses (WBEs) and disadvantaged businesses (DBEs).

Employers from a variety of fields engage with students seeking a wide range of career paths. The event was attended by representatives from supply chain, finance, consulting, marketing, construction, government, healthcare, social work, and many other industries.

Thanks to continued support from local and national employers and the dedicated efforts of the Center for Career and Workforce Development, the University’s Career and Internship Fair continues to take place each year.
