ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Most parents would agree that it takes a village to raise a child. Rochester nonprofits embody the same message.
Cradle to Career (C2C) is hosting its annual education summit on Wednesday, with more than 200 participants exploring ways to better serve young people.
The organization is dedicated to breaking down barriers to education with the voice of students and families as its top priority.
C2C staff welcome parents, school staff, and government officials to work as a community initiative and prepare to address some of the barriers families experience within the education system.
Completing the FASFA, transitioning to kindergarten and accessing prenatal care are some of the biggest issues facing Rochester families, C2C said.
The nonprofit then partners with youth organizations to find solutions.
“By working together, we can really address some of the larger systemic issues that exist in our communities, and re-center the voices and lived experiences of youth and families.”C2C said Executive Director Julie Ruzek.
The summit begins at 9 a.m. at Saint Mary’s University Rochester.
Attendees will participate in numerous breakout sessions and panel discussions, and hear from keynote speakers.
The day will conclude with an ice cream social gathering.
