A poorly maintained walking park built on the banks of the Uyakondan canal in Tiruchi is in a state of disrepair, drawing flak from fitness enthusiasts and local residents.

Built at a cost of 1.9 billion rupees and completed in August 2021, the ‘Riverside Walking Park’ at Tenur Ujjwal Sandai attracts a large number of visitors when it opens to the public as it offers a tranquil and beautiful view of the canal. have gathered. Recently, the park has become a hub for anti-social elements due to poor maintenance.

The path is blocked with brambles, effectively blocking access to areas within the park. Human waste is scattered at the entrance, giving off a foul odor.

There are broken bottles in the aisles, making it dangerous to walk. Despite being open to the public, fitness enthusiasts complain that the use of the area for healthy exercise has declined for these reasons.

As a result, various anti-social elements misuse the place for illegal purposes. This will further discourage many people, including residents and pedestrians, from using the park.

“We used to come to the park in the morning because it was clean and easily accessible. But now at night, the lights don’t come on and there are robberies. So many walkers… It needs to be maintained properly so that it can be used.

A company executive contacted said the issue would be addressed as soon as possible.
