Goat yoga + salsa dancing = DFW outdoor fitness fun

Now is the time to step it up, and that means outdoors. This gorgeous fall weather has Dalasi and Fort Worthians jogging, stretching, and dancing outdoors. We’ve put together a handy list of outdoor classes you might want to check out.

Goat Yoga, Addison Circle Park
You were expecting Downward-Facing Dog, but were you expecting goats in Halloween costumes? As your herd of pet goats graze and hop all around (or above) you, GOGA By wearing the , you can enjoy both. Note: This class requires advance tickets and a signed liability waiver.

Fitness classes, Klyde Warren Park
Take your pick from Barre, Meditation, Sweat & Sculpt, Pilates, and Bootcamp. All of these are free and run from weekends in October through early November. Check the website for times and parking information, and be sure to bring a mat and water bottle.

Pilates in the Park, Griggs Park
Celebrate the opening of Oak Cliff Pilates’ new Uptown studio and give away a free outdoor class. Head to Griggs Park every Saturday from October 19th to November 9th at 9am and get ready to move, breathe, and connect.

Dance lessons, Sundance Square
From salsa to swing, learn a few steps for free before a live band takes the stage at Sundance Square Plaza. On October 12th, a Texas dancemaker will teach salsa, followed by a cumbia night featuring Havana NRG. On October 19th, there will be a Jubilee Swing Dance class followed by a Sundance Square Big Band class.

yoga, barnet park
Pencil to BYOM (bring your own mat) free restorative yoga classes in the park on Tuesdays in October from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Metered parking downtown is free after 6 p.m. Or, stop by Neighbor’s House Grocery across the street for dinner or snacks and get 4 hours of parking in the First on 7 parking lot. Plus, show your yoga mat and get 10 percent off.

Yoga, Fort Worth Nature Center & Preserve
TGIF including a relaxing introductory yoga session surrounded by serene nature. Meet at the Marty Leonard Lotus Marsh Boardwalk at 9am. Classes are free for members (non-members pay a $5 admission fee). Pre-registration is required for October 11th, October 18th, and October 25th.

Outdoor Fitness Series, Southlake
Held at various Southlake parks and led by Champions Club group fitness instructors, the free series will feature boot camp, yoga and even a Halloween-themed Zumba. No registration or membership required. As an added incentive for participating, The Marq Champions Club is giving away a Yeti Roadies 24 hard cooler. Each participating class will receive a raffle ticket and one lucky person will win a prize at the end of the series.
