Is it possible that Texas Tech football is heading to the Poptarts Bowl?

After the first opening day of the season, the Texas Tech football team heads into the second half of the 2024 season just one win away from a bowl berth.

With an overall record of 5-1 and a 3-0 mark in Big 12 play, the Red Raiders are alone in first place in the conference standings. If this situation holds, Texas Tech could qualify for the Big 12 Championship Game and even the College Football Playoff.

No one has predicted the Red Raiders to the CFP yet, but here’s how Texas Tech will fare after the regular season in the latest bowl predictions.

Last game: Texas Tech football defeats Arizona with 3 TDs from Taj Brooks, 2 FGs from Gino Garcia.

Texas Tech Football Bowl Predictions — Week 7

Action Network: Pop-Tart Bowl

If Brett McMurphy has anything to say about it, Red Raider fans need to stock up on toaster pastries. The new fan-favorite Poptarts Bowl will see Texas Tech take on Notre Dame in Orlando on Dec. 28. Technically speaking, the Red Raiders and Fighting Irish have played against each other once. According to Tech’s media guide, the Red Raiders faced Notre Dame’s B team on October 28, 1932, and Texas Tech won 39-0.

CBS Sports: Liberty Bowl

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has the Red Raiders returning to Memphis for the Dec. 27 game against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl. The Red Raiders last faced the Razorbacks in 2015, when Tech won 35-24 in Fayetteville. Tech’s last appearance in the Liberty Bowl was in 2021, when the Red Raiders defeated Mississippi State.

ESPN: Poptarts Bowl or Texas Bowl

ESPN’s weekly predictions are split between two writers: Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach. So there can be multiple predictions each week, and that’s the case here. Bonagura will pit the Red Raiders against Pittsburgh in the Poptarts Bowl. Coach Schlabach will lead Texas Tech to Houston on December 31st to face Oklahoma in the Texas Bowl.

247Sports: Texas Bowl

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports also plans on the Red Raiders going to Houston for the Texas Bowl. But Crawford put Texas Tech up against Kentucky. These two teams have never met on the grid.
