“I hate to think how many people are stuck without answers or tangible help,” the Paramore vocalist and songwriter wrote.

In a new note for World Mental Health Day, Paramore’s Hayley Williams shares the difficult process of analyzing her own mental health struggles, as well as more resources and resources for people dealing with similar issues. He revealed the need for a support system.

Williams admitted how “ignorant” she was about mental illness until she was diagnosed with depression and “a particular type of PTSD” in 2018, and how “all-consuming” it can be. (The memo was shared on the newspaper’s Instagram page) by pointing out that hair dye company Williams Co. At the time, Williams said her doctor told her she had chronic fatigue, but she didn’t realize that her mental illness could also “impact her physical health.”

She continued: “I never realized how interconnected my mind and body actually are. By the way, this kind of fatigue is becoming more and more common. Thriving holistically in the modern world may seem quite impossible.”

Williams went on to say that she was able to learn all of this because she had access to mental health professionals and doctors. “I hate to think how many people are stuck without answers or tangible help,” she wrote. “Of course, it’s the little things we can do every day to cheer ourselves up and give ourselves space to express how we feel and who we are. Small victories help. I has always turned to music, dyeing or changing hair, and some form of community…but sometimes you need more support than these can provide.”

Williams highlighted several organizations that are “doing amazing work to make the path to mental health more fair and efficient,” and said people who might be “gravitated to such organizations” I ended my note by encouraging everyone to reach out. Groups included Inclusive Therapists, Therapy for Black Girls, and The Trevor Project.

Paramore spent much of this summer touring, including opening for Taylor Swift’s big stint on the European leg of her Ellas tour. The band released their latest album, This Is Why, in February 2023.
