Niantic has announced that the “Pokémon GO Yamask Research Day” event will be held for a limited time on October 19th. During the new Research Day event, Pokemon GO players can encounter and capture Yamask and Galar Yamask, and earn additional bonuses by completing field research tasks.
The game’s latest season, Pokémon GO Max Out, began on September 10th and introduced Dynamax Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield. The Max Out season, themed around Pokémon from the Galar region and Dynamax forms, will feature several limited-time events until December 3rd, including the monthly Pokémon GO Community Day event. Roughly a month into the season, Niantic announced a new Research Day event highlighting Yamask and its Galarian subspecies, staying consistent with the theme of Max Out. The event reveal also appears to confirm previous leaks regarding the Pokémon GO event schedule for October 2024.

The “Pokémon GO Yamask” and “Galar Yamask Research Day” events will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Completing event-themed field research tasks will give you a chance to earn encounters with these Pokemon, and will also increase your chances of encountering Shiny Pokemon. Cubone, Zigzagoon, Galar Zigzagoon, Duskal, and Shieldon will also appear more frequently in the wild during the event. Those looking to earn additional rewards and encounters with Yamask and Galar Yamask can also purchase event-exclusive Time Research for $2 in Pokémon GO’s in-game shop. Timed research and associated rewards will expire along with the event at 5pm local time on October 19th, so players should claim their rewards as soon as possible.
Pokémon GO Yamask and Galar Yamask Research Day details
The event will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Completing Field Research tasks will give you encounters with Yamask and Galar Yamask. Additional tasks and rewards are available by purchasing exclusive Timed Research for $2.
Note that players can purchase the Yamask and Galar Yamask Timed Research and give it to friends with a friendship level of “Great Friends” or higher. However, Time Research Gift Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be purchased with PokeCoins.
Five days before the event begins, the Lucario Mask Avatar item from the Pokémon GO Ultra Unlock Event will finally be available for purchase in the in-game shop. Solgaleo, Yamamask, Festival (Pikachu), Festival (Eevee), Pikachu, Subeye, and Banette masks will also be available in the shop from October 14th.
A few days after the end of the Yamask Research Day event, Pokémon GO players can participate in the Halloween Part 1 event from October 22nd to 28th. During the event, players may encounter Morpeko, who can switch between full and hungry modes during battle.
