Forgive the politicians desperately courting Taylor Swift – POLITICO

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have been involved in discussions with police, with Cooper warning that canceling Swift’s gigs would be “financially damaging and embarrassing”. The Sun reported. Probably because Keir Starmer had a free ticket and couldn’t cancel. How could you cancel the babysitting appointment so suddenly?

There is no doubt that Swift is a politician. She wields far more power than she should have, and of course supported Kamala Harris in the US election. Donald Trump has celebrity endorsements like Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock, which would have been great had the election been held in 1999.

Perhaps the Swift Effect helped propel Liz Truss to the position of British Prime Minister (there must be a reason for that!). Because Truss was photographed with Tay Tay at an awards ceremony in 2019 when he was Treasury Secretary (Mr Swift, not Truss, as far as I know, held a senior position in the UK Treasury). (This has never happened).

I can’t resist the temptation of celebrities. In 2021, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted a photo of her next to Dua Lipa at the Atlantic Council Leadership Awards ceremony, where she was nominated for Best Duet .

Von der Leyen was probably thinking about what could happen. You may remember the video in which von der Leyen’s father, former minister and president of Lower Saxony, Ernst Albrecht, introduced the singer’s family on the program Die aktuelle Schaubude (the video is undated). (The hair suggests the late 1970s).

There was also Die Albrecht Familie’s 1978 single “Wohlauf in Gottes schöne Welt” (In God’s Beautiful World), with the B-side “Alle Birken grünen in Moor und Heid” (All Birch). Masu. blooms in bogs and heaths) and “Ich kann Charles Michel nicht ausstehen”.
