October 11, 2024 — Editor’s Note: The following message was emailed to all faculty, staff, and students by UTSA Chancellor Taylor Eighmy and UT Health San Antonio Provost Robert Hromas.
In our last email, we outlined recent progress by the Joint Steering Committee, including an update on the new joint mission statement and the launch of four task forces. Today I am writing this article to share the latest developments.
The task forces and working groups we have established are making steady progress toward their respective missions.
Communications Task Force – Members select pre-qualified national branding agency partners to help develop world-class narratives, scope of work, and research best practices for integrated branding in peer institutions. Brand & Marketing Task Force – Members are pre-qualified nationally to support our world-class narrative, develop scope and timelines of work, and research integrated brand best practices with peer institutions. We are choosing a branding agency partner. SACSCOC Accreditation Task Force – Members present a new unified mission statement through each institution’s shared governance process and continue to prepare a prospectus for approval by the UT System Board of Governors and the SACSCOC Board of Directors. Health Education Accreditation Task Force – Members have begun reviewing and coordinating UT Health San Antonio’s multiple program-level accreditation requirements to ensure compliance through the merger.
We identify willing peer institutions and plan site visits and virtual interviews to assess their integration strategies and best practices.
The combined schools are the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Washington, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), the University of Michigan, and Rutgers University. To help guide our integration strategy, members of our integration steering committee meet with these institutions both in-person and virtually to better understand how they have scaled for growth and to help guide our unique approach going forward. Learn best-in-class examples to help guide your path.
We’ve answered some new FAQs based on feedback from the integration website.
The following FAQs are published on the website.
What does SACSCOC accreditation mean? What does Phase 1 of the Consolidated Schedule include? Which institution’s name will be on my diploma?
We need you to continue the great work you do to continue our positive momentum. As I have said before, it is important that each of you continue to do what you are doing so that the success of each of us can collectively lead us into the future. Continue with your current plans, goals, and strategies.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and involvement in the process thus far. We look forward to your continued cooperation and support.
