MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – As the weather gets colder, Wisconsin will soon be entering flu season. The Madison & Dane County Public Health Department would like to remind people to get the latest vaccinations.
Vaccinations for both COVID-19 and influenza have been updated. This means the vaccine is adapting to new strains and mutations.
PHMDC Director Janelle Heinrich said, “Influenza vaccines are updated every year to target strains that are expected to become prevalent and are developed through a careful and transparent process.” This process is designed to ensure that the vaccine is effective and gives you confidence that you are getting the best protection available. ”
If you are uninsured, there is no need to worry, as PHMDC continues to offer vaccinations.
Children attending schools in the area also need to be vaccinated, especially with essential vaccines such as meningitis, pertussis, COVID-19 and influenza vaccines.
Visit the PHMDC website to find out where you can get the vaccine.
