Obituary specifications:
It is preferable to use JPEG or PDF files for the deceased’s name, obituary, and photo, but we also accept files such as TIF. If there is a problem with the photo, we will contact you. Ad run dates There is a discount for running multiple days, but you must schedule it on the first run date to take advantage of it. If you use a photo, it must be used on both days for the discount to apply. Please contact us for more information.

Confirmation of death:
To post an obituary, we need the name and phone number of the funeral home/cremation society. To confirm a death, you must contact the funeral home/cremation society responsible for the arrangements during business hours. If a deceased person’s remains are donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomical Bequest Program or a similar program, a phone number is required for verification.
Please allow plenty of time to contact us, especially during limited business hours on weekends.
You can also use a death certificate for this purpose, but you only need one of these two options.
Guestbook and external websites:
When publishing an obituary in print or online, references to other media sources are not permitted in the guestbook or in obituaries posted elsewhere. Alternatively, the funeral home may set up a website or email address for the family to contact you. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact us.
Obituary process:
Once submitted, we will fax or email a proof to you for review before publication in the newspaper. This proof includes the price and the date on which the notification is expected to appear.
Check the proof carefully. You must be notified of any errors or changes prior to publication in the Pioneer Press, subject to daily deadlines.
We are not responsible for any errors that may occur after publication or after final proofreading.

All obituaries appear as a permanent online guestbook on TwinCities.com. If you wish to remove your online presence, please contact us to remove your online guestbook. Changes to online obituaries can be processed through the Obituary Desk. If you have further questions, please call us.
Payment instructions:
All obituary notices require prepayment by the deadline specified in the deadline schedule below before they are issued. Once you have received and approved your calibration certificate, please call us at 651-228-5263 with your payment information.
Credit Card: Due to Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations, payments can only be accepted by phone.
EFT: Please call to confirm. Please enter your routing number and account number.
Cash: Accepted at the front counter Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Fee:
The lowest price is $162 for the first 10 lines. Each line after the first 10 is $12.20. If your ad has fewer than 10 lines, you’ll be charged a minimum rate of $162. The second run date will be $8.20 per line starting with the first line. For example, if the first run date is 20 rows, the cost is $164. The cost for each published photo is $125 per day. Example: If 2 photos are published in the newspaper for 2 days, the fee for 4 photos is $500.

Memorial (other than obituary) request
Unlike an obituary, a memorial post remembers a loved one who has passed away. The fee for a memorial letter is different from that for an obituary.
