Vice President Kamala Harris released her medical records this weekend, confirming that she is “extremely healthy” and “has the physical and mental resilience” necessary for the presidency. Harris later accused her Republican rival, Donald Trump, of hiding her record, claiming the president “doesn’t want the American people to know whether he’s qualified or not.”
Critics have cited erratic remarks at campaign rallies and raised concerns about Trump’s mental state and ability to serve out his term, but the Trump campaign quickly dismissed Harris’ objections and said Trump His doctor said he was in “perfect and good health.” They also took aim at Ms Harris, claiming she “doesn’t have the stamina” to match Mr Trump’s “busy and active campaign schedule”. Still, Trump has not released his complete medical records.
Harris’ campaign reportedly hopes the release of her health information will contrast with Trump’s relative lack of transparency. Although the vice president has a lead in national polls, battleground states are still too close to deciding, and the vice president’s campaign is trying to find every advantage it can, including doctor’s notes.
