Critics of Donald Trump say the former president’s bizarre town hall event on Monday is raising new questions about his health and mental stamina.
The question-and-answer event was paused when someone in the crowd passed out, and then again when someone else passed out in the venue, which Trump complained was too hot.
“Personally, I enjoy this. We lose weight,” President Trump joked. “No, you’ll lose weight. This will help you lose 4 to 5 pounds.”
After the second person passed out, President Trump decided to skip the question-and-answer session.
“No more questions, just listen to the music,” he said. “Let’s make it a music festival. Who wants to ask questions?
He called on the sound team to play “some really beautiful songs,” and then remained on stage for another 40 minutes, swaying to the songs, mouthing some of the lyrics, and occasionally moving his hands along with the music. was running.
He also occasionally offered comments about music, such as “great songs”.
President Trump’s decision to cut off questions at town hall comes after he canceled a “60 Minutes” interview and refused to participate in the second debate with his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. It was received and carried out.
The incident also comes amid a new focus on his health and recognition after speeches marked by slurred speech, confusion over names and locations, and long, rambling digressions.
“From 2016 to 2020 you saw a decline in his ability,” former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Trump insider turned critic, said Sunday in New York. He told Times columnist Frank Bruni. “And we’re still seeing significant declines.”
Trump’s critics on X said the former president’s bizarre appearance at Monday’s town hall-style event only exacerbated those questions.
This is what President Trump is actually doing. It’s just… he’s awkwardly standing on stage playing a few songs. I’m just imagining how people would react if Kamala Harris did this. https://t.co/JxYjWKR9fh

President Trump seems confused on stage.
Noem: Teacher, would you like to play some of your music and say hi to some people?
Trump: What song?
Nomu: Well, you said you wanted to end with a specific song. pic.twitter.com/umusQddmAb

His consistent slurred speech is concerning as a sign of mental breakdown, but you heard him! We will make this country gayer! And he played at the YMCA. 🤣 (By the way, this audio has not been edited…) @atruparpic.twitter.com/savbPWLscx

If I went to hear about birds and windmills and sharks and batteries and Hannibal Lecter and found this out, I’d be really pissed. https://t.co/735yNfTYfT

We’ll all be reduced to dust and bones, but Trump will still be on stage in Oaks, Pennsylvania, listening to loud music and jumping around.

Heck, this is probably why Trump’s reps won’t let him do actual interviews. He didn’t want people to know how bad he got 😬 https://t.co/JBWjwkAOKI
