With the construction industry facing an acute workforce shortage predicted to exceed 500,000 people, the need to inspire and educate the next generation about the value of a career in construction is more important than ever. It has become. According to Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the U.S. construction industry will need to bring in an additional 501,000 workers in 2024 to meet labor demand. This talent shortage is driven by factors such as high turnover rates among experienced workers and a lack of young people entering the industry.

How can we change the narrative around construction careers for young people and emphasize the importance of grit and perseverance?

In the latest episode of “Straight Outta Crampton,” host Greg Crampton, a creative developer at Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB) and co-author of the children’s book “Grit Leads to Greatness,” We welcome Jenny Schroon. In our conversation, we explore the inspiration behind her book, the importance of grit, and how construction can save the world, project by project.
