Students are encouraged to receive up-to-date COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations. This increases protection against new variants. UHS will administer the latest Moderna (Spikevax) and influenza vaccines. The flu vaccine does not contain thimerosal or latex. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), both vaccines can be administered in one visit.
For the first time, students interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccination can also choose to receive the vaccine when making an appointment for a flu vaccine clinic. Due to the limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, you must schedule your flu shot appointment in advance.
University Park students can receive both vaccinations at the UHS Flu Vaccine Clinic or Student Health Center by making an appointment through myUHS or by calling 814-865-4UHS (4847). Commonwealth campus students are encouraged to contact on-campus health services to inquire about vaccines, if applicable. The vaccine is available to anyone over the age of 18.
“Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are quick and easy ways to stay healthy this school year,” said UHS Medical Director Rebecca Simcik. “We can prevent Thanksgiving, final exams and winter from being interrupted by illness.” Please interrupt your plans. ”
Students who cannot receive the vaccine through UHS may visit vaccination sites within their community. For vaccine locations, enter your zip code on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccines.gov website to find a provider near you.
