The Dallas-based Mary Kay Ashe Foundation has announced grants totaling $2.4 million for cancer research and domestic shelters in 2024.
This number represents more than $96 million that the Foundation has donated since 1996 to support its dual mission of ending women-related cancers and ending domestic violence.
“Creating a safer, healthier world for women depends on the people on the front lines of groundbreaking cancer research and fighting domestic violence,” said Michael Lunsford, chairman of the Mary Kay Ash Foundation Board of Directors. “This means ensuring we have the life-saving resources we need.” In a statement.
“Nearly 30 years later, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation continues to invest in initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of women at critical points in their lives.”
Support for domestic violence facilities
The foundation said 50 domestic violence shelters nationwide will receive $20,000 in unrestricted funding to support life-saving services such as facility improvements, transportation, legal aid, counseling and child care, totaling $1 million. He said he received a grant of $1.
Four domestic violence shelters in North Texas (Denton County Friends of the Family, Hope’s Door New Beginning Center, Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, and The Family Place) received grants of $25,000 each for a total of $100,000 to identify responded to community needs and promoted support programs.

Supporting innovative cancer research and clinical trials
Twelve researchers from Japan’s top accredited universities have been awarded a cancer translational research grant of $100,000, totaling $1.2 million, to support innovative research efforts into cancers that primarily affect women. A special clinical trial grant of $100,000 was awarded to the Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation to support a first-of-its-kind clinical trial conducted by Dr. Joyce O’Shaughnessy honoring Women Chairs in Breast Cancer Research. This trial is investigating weight loss inhibitors to prevent breast cancer recurrence in overweight patients.
