CURwensville – From October 1st to October 4th, Workforce Solutions of North Central Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the Curwensville Area School District, will offer an immersive event designed to encourage students of all ages to start thinking about their future careers. We hosted Curwensville Career Week, a type of career exploration event. .

The week featured a variety of interactive programs tailored to specific grade levels, providing an engaging and educational experience.

On October 1st, the event began with a virtual reality (VR) mock career for 6th graders. Students used TransfrVR headsets to explore simulations of careers in fields such as healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, construction, and broadband.

This cutting-edge technology enabled students to gain practical experience and insight into a variety of professions through immersive learning.

On October 2, the focus shifted to our youngest learners. Kindergarten and first grade students participated in the Carl the Career Bear program.

This initiative introduced children to the concept of careers at an early stage and sparked conversations about what they wanted to be when they grew up.

On October 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students took part in Industry Day, a series of presentations from local businesses and organizations.

Representatives from Phoenix Therapy, AHUG, Penn State DuBois Idea Lab North Central PA LaunchBox, and Lezzer Lumber engage students with hands-on exhibits and activities, providing insight into various industries and the skills needed for success I did.

To conclude the week, on October 4th, second and third grade students participated in Careers on Wheel, also known as the “Touch-A-Truck” program.

Students had the opportunity to explore vehicles from local businesses such as Clearfield Fire and EMS, Hunter’s Garage, Clearfield’s Bookmobile, RES Coal LLC, Electric Cooperative, and Lezzer Lumber.

Students received presentations and also had the opportunity to honk the horns on several vehicles, adding even more excitement to the event.

Workforce Solutions Project Coordinator Colleen Prechtl played a key role in organizing the week’s events, ensuring students had a meaningful and memorable career exploration experience.

“These events provide students with the opportunity to see, touch and experience careers first-hand, sparking their curiosity and planting the seeds for their future ambitions,” said Prechtl. .

“We are proud to work with our school and community partners to make these experiences possible.”

Curwensville Career Week was funded in whole or in part by federal funds.
