LINCOLN, Neb. (COLOGNE) – Fall 2024-2025 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines are now available at several pharmacies, health care providers and clinics in Lincoln.
“As we move into the fall and winter, we expect to see an increase in respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19,” said Kelly Kernen, assistant health director for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department. “The virus that causes COVID-19 is constantly changing, and the latest vaccines increase our body’s defenses against the latest variants that may be circulating in our communities. It will help.”
The CDC recommends that everyone six months of age and older receive the latest COVID-19 vaccine. This includes people who have previously received a COVID-19 vaccine or who have had a COVID-19 infection.
Getting the 2024-2025 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine is especially important for the following groups:
People 65 and older People at high risk for severe illness from COVID-19 – Learn about risk factors for COVID-19. People who live in long-term care facilities People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant, or may become pregnant in the future Future – COVID-19 vaccine for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding Learn about vaccinations.
In addition to the COVID-19 vaccine, the CDC also recommends the influenza vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older. Influenza vaccines are widely available in the community and can be given at the same time as the latest COVID-19 vaccines.
This fall, households can order four free at-home COVID-19 tests through the federal government through covidtests.gov. Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing is also available in the main lobby of the Health Department during normal business hours. It is also available at all Lincoln Public Library locations. .
