EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — El Paso’s annual NAMIWalks event drew more than 1,000 people to Ascarate Park, making it one of the city’s largest gatherings for mental health awareness.
Participants gathered on a cool day, many with training equipment and their dogs, to take part in a walk aimed at breaking down the stigma around mental health.
NAMI El Paso has hosted this event since 2013 and continues to grow while raising awareness and providing resources to those affected by mental health issues.
This year’s event featured over 98 teams and numerous booths providing information and support to attendees.
Participants shared personal stories of why they walk, from their own mental health journeys to supporting loved ones.
The event highlighted the importance of openly discussing mental health, with many people expressing their desire for greater understanding and support in their communities.
