Parents and guardians of young children are being urged to take advantage of the half-term holidays to get vaccinated against influenza.
Families can also check to see if their children are vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).
If parents are unable to get vaccinated at school, they can book an appointment through their GP or at a pharmacy using the NHS website.
Kate Langford, chief medical officer for NHS Kent and Medway, said: “Flu is a very unpleasant illness for children and can cause symptoms such as fever, stuffy nose, dry cough, sore throat, muscle and joint pain, and severe symptoms. It can cause fatigue.”
“Children can easily spread the disease to their friends and family, so it is important that parents make sure they are protected.”
