NEW YORK (WABC) — This issue of Here and Now: About the growing mental health challenges in the Black community.
According to a Columbia University study, there is growing evidence that increased psychological difficulties in Black communities are directly related to a lack of access to appropriate and culturally responsive mental health care.
Black Minds Matter is a support group that provides a safe space for people dealing with mental health issues. Joining our program to discuss this are Black Minds Matters facilitator Tanisha Malcolm and psychiatrist Dr. James McKnight.
Our program will also feature the author of “From Bitter to Better,” a new novel that inspires women of color to face life’s challenges head-on.
Sandra Bookman’s “Here and Now” airs Sundays at 12pm on WABC-TV Channel 7 in New York City.
