Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday responded to former President Donald Trump calling her a “terrible vice president,” telling Pastor Al Sharpton on MSNBC that “the American people deserve better.” .
She went on to talk about the importance of presidents setting standards not only domestically but internationally, and said Trump’s actions “demean the president.”
Her remarks came a day after President Trump berated Harris during a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh.

From the stage at the rally, the former president unleashed his usual insults at Ms. Harris, but also added to the audience: “We can’t stand you, you sadistic vice president. The worst vice president. Kamala, you’re fired.”
“Donald Trump should never stand behind the seal of the President of the United States again. He hasn’t earned that right. He hasn’t earned that right, and that’s why he’s going to lose,” Harris said. He told Sharpton on Sunday.
Harris was also asked in the interview about the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in an October 7, 2023 terrorist attack in Israel that killed about 1,200 people and took about 250 hostages. . Harris reiterated her position that the war needs to end and the hostages released, while condemning the killing of so many Palestinians.
“The number of innocent Palestinians killed in Gaza is truly unconscionable,” Harris said. “And we have to be honest about that, and at the same time, listen, I always stand in terms of Israel’s right to defend itself, and we need to end this war.” there is.”
She recently condemned the “suffering of many innocent Palestinians” as “unconscionable”. More than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, according to the Palestinian Health Authority.
The war has proven to be a divisive point for progressives, some of whom are wary of supporting her.
Separately, MSNBC asked Harris if she thinks the pushback from some of her male supporters is misogynistic, and that her support among black men in her campaign is lower than previous Democrats. I asked about it. Polls show a large gender gap in whether voters support Harris or Trump.
“We have to get everyone’s vote, regardless of race or gender,” Harris said.
“Sometimes what’s frustrating is when journalists ask me this question, as if I can take black male votes for granted,” she said. “I think this is actually an uninformed perspective, because are black men any different than other voters? They expect you to get their votes. ”
Harris’ campaign intensified its outreach to black men in the final stages of the campaign, announcing an Opportunity Agenda for Black Men and making multiple media appearances with news outlets with large black audiences.
