MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — Macon Atrium Health Navicent is reminding the public to get their annual flu and COVID-19 vaccinations as temperatures drop this fall and winter.

In a press release, Atrium Health Navicent emphasized the importance of vaccination as cold and flu season begins this month. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) research shows that annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of serious or life-threatening outcomes, according to Atrium Health Navicent. It has been shown that this will happen.

In a statement, doctors at Atrium Health Navicent recommend that everyone six months of age and older get a flu shot by the end of October.

“The fall season not only brings cooler temperatures, but also increases the number of patients suffering from influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV,” said Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care North Macon. said Dr. Timothy Griffin. “Fortunately, we have vaccines that can reduce the spread of these diseases and reduce the risk of serious infection not only for those receiving the vaccine but also for their loved ones.

Prenatal vaccination has been shown to help protect pregnant women from influenza illness and hospitalization, and to help protect babies from influenza infection. Flu vaccination can save your child’s life. Although some people get sick even after vaccination, some studies have shown that influenza vaccination reduces the severity of illness.
