In an update spotted by 9to5Google, Samsung Health can now show users their medical records. To make these changes possible, Samsung is working with b.well Connected Health, a platform designed to give people access to their health data. You can access past medical records such as vaccinations, prescriptions, and certain medical tests.
Samsung Health doesn’t just provide historical information. It can also provide recommendations for next steps or actions, or prompt the user to seek medical attention.
Starting late last year, Samsung Health introduced a medication tracking feature. Samsung has now rolled out this feature to South Korea and India, and says it is working with healthcare providers in those countries as needed.
A final notable update includes food intake monitoring. Samsung Health has introduced a barcode scanner to more easily record your food. The company has partnered with FatSecret, which provides verified food and nutritional data. As a result, you can scan barcodes and get nutritional information instantly. This feature will be available first in the United States and some EU countries, including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland. The company plans to expand to other regions in the future.
Samsung isn’t just about improving people’s health with the Samsung Health app. The FDA gave the green light to the Galaxy Watch’s sleep detection feature earlier this year.
