More than 60 recruiters from business, industry, law enforcement, agriculture and nonprofit organizations seeking potential employees and interns attended the annual Fall Career Fair Tuesday (October 29) afternoon. We will meet at Wilmington University from 2 to 6 p.m. and will be held on the lawn. Sports Science Center.

This event is open to the public and is designed to introduce WC students to potential employers and internship and graduate study opportunities.

Colleges impress upon students that it is important to have good grades and a good skill set, but they must not overlook the need to develop good communication and networking skills. And this is especially true for new students and students whose graduation is still many years away. In fact, achieving a fulfilling career is a long process, and preparation is the key to success.

It is a superstition and misconception that you should start job hunting from your third year. It should start when the student is a freshman. It is important for students to research both their field of interest and the most desirable employers in that field to truly understand what they are looking for and what companies are looking for. Beneficial. That way, they will be better equipped to seize good opportunities.

Students have worked with the Career Resources Office to prepare their resumes and cover letters, and to develop a topic that will distinguish them from other students looking for the same job or internship. The hands-on learning experience that characterizes WC often gives students an advantage over applicants from many other schools.

Students also learn that they should not be deterred from speaking with a particular employer because their products or services are not compatible with their major. In fact, nearly every organization, business, and industry employs staff in areas ranging from human resources and accounting to communications, marketing, sales, and government relations.
