Bordeaux, France–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#cell therapy–TreeFrog Therapeutics announced a research collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh focused on the potential of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) in immuno-oncology, an exciting emerging field in cancer research.

In tandem with the biotechnology expertise of TreeFrog Therapeutics and its proprietary C-Stem™ 3D cells, we are leveraging ongoing pioneering research by Dr. Tulia Bruno, assistant professor in the Department of Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh, and her team at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. I will use it. This collaboration, leveraging encapsulation technology, aims to break new ground in 3D immunology.

Tertiary lymphoid structures are ectopic lymphoid structures that occur in chronically infected organs, sites of inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and grafts that have undergone chronic rejection. In recent years, they have been reported to play an important role in the body’s immune response to cancer, in solid tumors. Researchers aim to decipher the complex mechanisms underlying TLS function and use this knowledge to develop new therapeutic approaches that harness the immune system’s natural ability to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. I am.

“We are excited to embark on a collaboration with Professor Bruno to apply our encapsulation technology to further understand and interface with TLS, allowing us to achieve a new level of control over the microenvironment of these amazing 3D immune structures. We are pleased to collaborate with Professor Bruno and his team as research shows that the presence of TLS in cancer may enhance anti-tumor immunity and improve response and prognosis. We are excited to explore the synergies and opportunities of our 3D technology in this emerging field,” said TreeFrog Therapeutics Chief Scientific Officer.

“If we could recreate TLS using 3D technology, it would open up so many questions about how TLS forms and modulates in a controlled way. This is a new frontier for TLS biology. This could be very useful for a deeper understanding of the disease and could complement studies in patient samples and physiologically relevant mouse models,” commented Professor Bruno, Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh. . .
