Dignity Health Northridge officials say the hospital has partnered with the American Heart Association to become the San Fernando Valley’s first free fresh food distribution center. The main goal is to improve access to healthy food while improving the health of residents in local communities.

According to the American Heart Association, Los Angeles has the highest number of food insecure people and households in the United States, with nearly 2 million residents unsure of how to get their next meal.
