THE HAGUE (Reuters) – The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on Friday that it would replace one of the judges who decided to issue an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for health reasons. This measure could cause further delays. inside the case.

In May, prosecutors sought warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders, arguing that there were reasonable grounds for them to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The ICC president said the case’s presiding judge, Romanian judge Julia Mototu, requested her resignation on Friday for health reasons and was immediately replaced by Slovenian ICC judge Betty Holler.

The replacement is expected to further delay rulings on potential writs in cases related to the Gaza conflict, as it will take time for the new judge to familiarize himself with the application.
