Every three seconds someone around the world develops dementia, affecting more than 55 million people worldwide, and that number is expected to double every 20 years.

Did you know that sitting for long periods of time, both at work and at home, can increase your risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes, as well as dementia? Researchers at UCLA found that 1 They found that sitting for at least 12 hours a day increased your risk by 63%.

Data suggests that physical activity and exercise help maintain brain health.

Poor oral hygiene is also associated with dementia. A study of 144 participants in Milwaukee found that severe tooth loss was associated with a six-fold increased risk of dementia compared to those with fewer missing teeth.

Everyone knows that the mouth is the entrance to the body. Properly cleaning your mouth has tremendous benefits not only for your dental care but also for your overall health.

Other contributing factors include not getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep, excessive alcohol consumption, and social isolation.

The effects of social isolation and loneliness on health are as powerful as smoking, high blood pressure, and obesity.

So, to keep your brain in good shape, get some rest, drink alcohol in moderation, and check in with friends.

Studies show that people over 65 who get a flu shot have a 40% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease, a common form of dementia, and that pneumonia vaccines can lower the risk of dementia by 30%. Shown.
