MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – UW Health Eastpark Medical Center began accepting patients on Monday.
The new medical center specializes in cancer treatment through the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center, but also offers allergy, dermatology, pharmacy services and radiology services.
A ribbon cutting was held at the facility last Tuesday, and reservations officially begin Monday.
The facility also has several unique features, including advanced imaging equipment, a laboratory and a 73-chair infusion center for chemotherapy, which officials say is the largest in Wisconsin. .
Dr. Lee Wilke, senior medical director of clinical cancer services at Wisconsin Health, said the center has been very thoughtfully designed.
“There are several options for patients who want something from a communal experience to a private experience when receiving an infusion,” Wilk said.
A cancer symptom management clinic will open in East Park and will be an important resource to support patients suffering from the side effects of cancer treatment.
“This clinic will allow patients to have their symptoms treated in the same location as their cancer care team, potentially avoiding urgent care and emergency room visits,” Wilk said. “This clinic will help patients access experts who can evaluate their unique needs.”
The facility will also offer proton therapy, making it one of the only facilities in the world to offer upright proton therapy.
The hospital announced that it plans to begin proton beam therapy in early 2026.
