HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – Due to the growing demand for housing in the Houghton-Hancock area, Michigan Technological University partners held a housing fair for students on Wednesday.
Students who wish to live off-campus can stop by to learn about the various housing opportunities in the area.
The university says it has the highest number of students enrolled on campus since 1982. The university reported in September that it enrolled 7,430 students, 110 more than last year.
The university’s partner College Pads is responsible for operating the university’s official off-campus housing website. The company’s goal for the fair was to further help students find off-campus opportunities.
“For a first fair, I think it went well,” said Matt Reddington, College Pad regional account executive. “We had a lot of students in attendance today. Everyone was so excited to be here in person and meet local real estate and property owners. We are already looking forward to next year. We hope to see more properties here.”
Reddington hopes the students will use what they learned Wednesday to help them find the housing they want in the future.
