Big changes are coming to college football starting in 2025. The University of Tennessee will implement a 10% talent fee on football season tickets. The revenue will go directly to the players. University of Tennessee athletic director Danny White says this closer relationship between resources and success is key to staying competitive. Ticket prices will also increase by 4.5%, for a total increase of 14.5%. According to a University of Tennessee spokesperson who spoke to Business Insider, the talent fee will only cover 33% of the players’ salaries with university funds. The rest of the University of Tennessee said the decision is in preparation for the House v. NCAA lawsuit that could restructure player compensation by July 2025. So fans may end up paying a little more, but they’ll be directly supporting the players on the field.
Miami QB records 15,000 passing yards in college career

Miami quarterback Cam Ward has become the 13th player to reach 15,000 career passing yards in the NCAA. Ward achieved the milestone on Saturday night, completing a 22-yard pass to Isaiah Horton in the first quarter of the No. 8 Hurricanes game at South Florida, 89 yards away from reaching 15,000. The only active college quarterback with more than 15,000 passing yards is Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, who as of Saturday had 15,779 passing yards in 53 games at three different schools. Gabriel spent three seasons at UCF and will spend 2022 and 2023 at Oklahoma before transferring to Oregon. Saturday’s game was Ward’s 48th career game. He spent his first two seasons at FCS-affiliated University of the Incarnate Word (where he threw for 6,908 yards) and his final two at Washington State (where he threw for 6,968 yards). He gained 1,035 yards in Miami’s first three games this year, becoming the school’s first player to throw for 300 or more yards in three consecutive games, bringing his total to 14,911 yards by that point. Besides Gabriel and Ward, the following quarterbacks have officially recorded 15,000 or more passing yards as recognized by the NCAA: Case Keenum, 19,217 yards at the University of Houston from 2007-2011. Keenum currently plays for the Houston Texans, but will miss this season due to injury; and Timmy Chung, 17,072 yards at the University of Hawaii from 2000-2004. He is currently the head coach at the school. Tyson Bagent: Gave 17,034 yards at Division II Shepherd from 2018-2022. Currently a reserve for the Chicago Bears. Landry Jones: Gave 16,646 yards at Oklahoma from 2009-2012. Started five games for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2015-2017. Beau Cordell: Gave 16,265 yards at Division II Tusculum from 2009-2013 and then played for Montreal in the CFL. Graham Harrell: Gave 15,793 yards at Texas Tech from 2005-2008. Currently the offensive coordinator at Purdue University. Sam Hartman: Gave 15,656 yards at Wake Forest and Notre Dame from 2018-2023. He is a rookie for the Washington Commanders. Austin Reed had 15,550 yards at Division II West Florida and Western Kentucky from 2020-23. He is now on the Bears’ practice squad. Bo Nix had 15,351 yards at Auburn and Oregon from 2019-23. He is a starter for the Denver Broncos. John Matocha had 15,102 yards at Division II Colorado School of Mines from 2019-23. He attended camp with Toronto of the CFL this year. Ty Detmer had 15,031 yards at BYU from 1988-1991. He played 14 seasons in the NFL.

Ward achieved that milestone on Saturday night. Entering the game 89 yards away from reaching 15,000 career yards, he completed a 22-yard pass to Isaiah Horton in the first quarter of the No. 8 Hurricanes’ game at South Florida.
