As part of events on the second day of his three-day visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a host of industry leaders, ranging from semiconductors to electronics to biotechnology, to discuss the potential and opportunities that India has to offer.
Participants in the CEO Roundtable included Adobe Chairman, President and CEO Shantanu Narayen, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, AMD Chairman and CEO Lisa Su and Moderna Chairman Nouba Afeyan.

“I held a fruitful roundtable with CEOs of tech companies in New York and discussed topics including technology and innovation. I also highlighted the progress India has made in this space. It is good to see the immense optimism towards India,” PM Modi said in an online post.
During bilateral talks between India and the US on Saturday, President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded joint efforts to promote a resilient, secure and sustainable semiconductor supply chain, including strengthening mutually beneficial collaboration in chip manufacturing research and development through the GF Kolkata Power Centre established by GlobalFoundries (GF) in Kolkata, India.
According to a joint fact sheet released by the White House, the leaders welcomed new private sector collaborations on emerging technologies, such as through IBM’s recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of India, which will enable IBM’s Watsonx platform on India’s Airawat supercomputer, foster new AI innovation opportunities, strengthen research and development collaboration on advanced semiconductor processors, and expand support for India’s national quantum mission.
The two leaders welcomed the progress made since the MoU signed in November 2023 between the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the two countries under the “Innovation Handshake” agenda.
Since then, the two parties have hosted two industry roundtables in the US and India, bringing together startups, private equity and venture capital firms, corporate investment arms and government officials to build connections and accelerate investment in innovation.
During his visit to New York, Modi also addressed a huge gathering of the Indian community on Sunday, which drew thousands from across the country.
On the first day, Saturday, PM Modi attended the fourth Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by US President Joe Biden. Following a request from the US side to host a Quad summit this year, India has agreed to host the next Quad summit in 2025. The forum has emerged as a crucial grouping of like-minded countries working for peace, progress and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
On Monday, the third day, before leaving for India, Modi is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly’s Future Summit in New York, with the theme “Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.”
A large number of world leaders are expected to attend the summit. On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with several leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest.
