“Be Pro, Be Proud Truck Tours” in Craven aims to expose local students to tech-related careers.

According to Craven Community College, the Home Builders Association of Craven and Pamlico Counties and Craven County Schools’ Career Technical Education Program will bring more than 380 middle school students to Craven Community College’s Bolt Center for hands-on learning and workshop experiences within the “Be Pro Be Proud” truck that will travel around the state.

The two-day event will take place at the Volt Center, located at 205 First Street in New Bern, from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26 through Friday, Sept. 27. Participating middle schools include Grover C. Fields Middle School and H.J. MacDonald Middle School.

Reportedly the largest and most exciting traveling tour to promote workforce development, Be Pro Be Proud will deliver mobile workshop experiences to schools and community centers across the state, providing an innovative suite of resources to help students explore, plan and launch careers in today’s technology jobs. Students will discover which skilled trades interest them as they design, drive and weld using custom-developed, highly interactive virtual and augmented reality simulators.
