A popular Reno restaurant was forced to temporarily close after failing a recent health inspection for multiple violations.

Brewer’s Cabinet is located at 475 S. Arlington, according to the Northern Nevada Department of Public Health. The Avenue failed a routine health inspection on Sept. 23 and was forced to close until the violations were corrected.

The report outlines the critical violations as follows:

Several unlabeled spray bottles containing liquids on the premises Several foods without date marks on the premises: black beans, cooked chicken, cut vegetables, opened arugula, brie cheese, mozzarella cheese etc. During inspection it was observed that the dishwasher in the bar area was not emitting chlorine (there is no other way to wash dishes in the bar area) at 41 degrees to prevent bacterial growth and ensure food safety Containers on the ranch are within reach of a 45 degree cooler if needed to be below Staff conditions Large cutting boards were only washed once a night Hand sink blocked by freezer during inspection 125 degrees All beer cheeses observed in warming units require time/temperature control (TCS) foods to be maintained at 135 degrees or higher for safety. Suppress bacterial growth and ensure food safety
Food and food contact surfaces observed throughout basement kitchen area (e.g. baking trays, dry ingredients, sugar packets, bowls, equipment lids, top of dishwasher) in contact with mouse/rat feces.

Other non-serious violations include:

Lack of management control due to several serious violations Thermometer in reach cooler broken Personal items observed stored in reach of cooler next to service food

The restaurant received a conditional passing inspection in November 2022 for unlabeled spray bottles and similar issues with not using a barrier to prevent bare hand contact when preparing food, according to the county’s database. was receiving.

News 4-Fox 11 reached out to a senior member of Brewer’s cabinet for comment and issued the following statement:

“We are deeply concerned by the recent findings in the health law report regarding The Brewers Cabinet. The safety and well-being of our customers is always our top priority, and this has been demonstrated throughout our many years of business. This is evidenced by our continued investment in eradication measures.”

We want to be clear that there was no intrusion or contamination in the kitchen or food. These allegations are being appealed and are believed to be based on unsubstantiated rumors and lack of evidence.

We have implemented all necessary staffing, management changes, and procedural changes to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we address these issues.

We have a proven track record of being stewards of our communities through our commerce and service and will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our customers and staff. This isn’t just a promise; it’s a core value of our business. While this situation is unfortunate, we have taken all necessary steps to comply with city and state health code regulations. We have always worked with city and health authorities to comply without prior violations. ”

The reopening date for restaurants has not yet been determined.
