History SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State volleyball team returns to the Jon M. Huntsman Center to begin its journey in the Big 12, defeating the Texas Tech Red Raiders 3-1 (25-23, 30-28, 32-34) , 25-23). ). Utah State defeated Colorado State in straight sets in 2011 when it debuted in the Pac-12, and has now won back-to-back games in its conference debut. Texas Tech scored six points to regain the lead and give them set point at 22-24. Utah continued to fight and fend off the final points from the Red Raiders to take the second set 30-28.
The Utes struggled again in the third game, losing 32-34 to the Red Raiders. Texas Tech had a five-point advantage, 18-13. Utah cut the Red Raiders’ lead to two points at 20-18 with kills from Jardine and Ashley West. Utah put together a 3-point run to take the first lead of the set and got back-to-back kills from Satuara to swing the match 23-22 in Utah’s favor. Both teams battled back and forth, with the Red Raiders winning the third set 34-32.
Utah widened the lead on the Red Raiders with a five-point run early in the fourth set, taking an 11-7 advantage over Texas Tech. The Utes continued to maintain their advantage and rallied with the Red Raiders. Utah fought off Texas Tech’s comeback attempt and got kills from Satuara and Ashley West down the stretch to seal the victory.
Standout Stats Kamryn Zibadolo led Utah’s offense with 17 kills, tying her career-high set last season against UC Santa Barbara. She surpassed her career mark for total attempts and set a new record with 45 swings. Four Utes players had double-digit kills on the night, led by Hibadolo (17), including Lauren Jardine (14), Emry Satuala (13 *season high) and Allie Olsen (10). The trio of Emry Satuala (13/.333), Allie Olsen (10/.625), and Ashley West (6/.333) provide efficient hitters with over .300 batting averages and five or more kills. Configure.
