At high school volleyball on Saturday…
In the D3-D4 showdown in Livonia, Calumet tied Mendon 25-21, 21-25 and defeated Plymouth Christian Academy 29-27, 25-18. No other scores were reported. Hancock lost to Kingsford 25-19, 25-15 in Saturday’s Market Sentinel Invitational. No other scores were reported.
In youth soccer…
On Saturday, Horton defeated Escanaba 2-0. Ethan Heckel and Grant Northey scored for the Huskies. Jonah Falker got the net shutout victory. college football

college volleyball
On Saturday, the Michigan Tech volleyball team defeated Davenport 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-20). Meg Rabe led the Huskies with 11 kills. Tess Hayes had 35 assists and a career-best 18 digs.
The NMU volleyball team lost to No. 7 Ferris State 3-1 (25-22, 10-25, 27-29, 19-25).

The MTU women’s soccer team will play at Roosevelt University this afternoon.
Northern women’s soccer team visits Purdue Northwest.
The NMU men’s team will host Parkside today.
MLB
The Tigers’ winning streak ended at six with a 4-0 loss to the White Sox on Saturday. Detroit had just three hits. Jackson Jobe pitched three no-hit innings as a reliever.
The regular season concludes this afternoon when the Tigers take on the White Sox again. Detroit has not named a starter. Jonathan Cannon will start for Chicago. If the Tigers win this afternoon, they will secure the No. 5 seed for the upcoming playoffs.
Six Milwaukee pitchers held the Mets to just two hits, and the Brewers defeated the Mets 6-0 on Saturday. Jackson Cholio and Willie Adames each had two hits.
The Brewers conclude the regular season in New York today. Collin Ray is scheduled to face David Peterson.
A collision between Milwaukee outfielder Sal Frelich and an unpadded portion of the Mets’ outfield wall on Friday left him with significant bone contusions but no other structural damage. He is out indefinitely.
NHL
The Red Wings’ exhibition game against the Penguins was canceled last night due to travel issues in Pittsburgh. That match is scheduled to take place as part of tomorrow’s split-squad twin bill. The Packers will host the Vikings today in a 1:00 game. Quarterback Jordan Love and cornerback Jaire Alexander are both listed as questionable for the contest.
The Lions will take on the Seahawks tomorrow night on 99.3 The Rift. Detroit center Frank Ragnow is out with a torn pectoral muscle. Tight end Sam LaPorta and safety Brian Branch have been taken off injured reserve and should be available to play. Laporta was dealing with an ankle injury and Branch was in concussion protocol.
