Olds College of Agriculture and Technology has received a $1.5 million investment from the federal government to support applied agricultural research.

“Better support for the next generation of researchers and a more modern scientific and research infrastructure are key to supporting a secure and prosperous economy of tomorrow,” said Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Taxation. “By supporting researchers at all levels and promoting diversity, we are strengthening Canada’s leadership in addressing challenges and improving the quality of life for all.”

Funding is available through the University and Community Innovation Programme. More than $29 million will support 58 research projects and programs at higher education institutions across the country.

“We are pleased to receive this funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) to support our applied agricultural research activities in the coming years,” said Director of Applied Research at the Olds College Innovation Center (OCCI) , said David Fullerton. ). “Funding like this is needed to support the development and testing of smart agricultural technologies. NSERC provides funding to employ university students on research projects and provide them with enriching research experiences. “Here at Olds College, we are committed to growing Canada’s agricultural industry in a profitable and sustainable way.”
