HOUSTON — Texans receiver Stefon Diggs scores his first career rushing touchdown on a trick play, erasing a Texans special teams blunder and tying the game at 7-7.
The Texans got the afternoon started by reinvigorating the winless Jacksonville Jaguars when wide receiver Steven Sims dropped a punt at their own 2-yard line and the Jaguars’ Daniel Thomas recovered the loose ball. One play later, quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a touchdown pass to wideout Brian Thomas Jr.
But the Texans didn’t let that discourage them.
Quarterback CJ Stroud found wideout Nico Collins three times for 49 yards and pushed the offense into the red zone. Then, on a third-and-2 from the Jaguars’ 6-yard line, Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik called a trick play in which Diggs attempted to throw off his hands.

But his intended target wasn’t open, so Diggs took it upon himself and ran straight into the end zone for the score.
After the Jaguars took the lead with a field goal, Stroud and Collins connected for a 3-yard touchdown to put the Texans ahead 14-10 in the second quarter.
